One mother recently shared her troubling story, and it’s been gaining a lot of attention online. She explains that she treasures the responsibility of caring for her children, and what happened took her completely by surprise.

She recounted her disbelief and distress upon discovering that a close friend had breastfed her newborn without asking for permission.

This mother, Afiqah Hasnah from Malaysia, was caught up in the flurry of a family event—one which her friend was attending too.

Feeling understandably overwhelmed with all that was going on, Afiqah’s friend took it upon herself to help out—to an alarming extent. She chose to breastfeed Afiqah’s baby of her own accord.

While the friend may have been trying to lend a hand out of kindness, the situation left Afiqah feeling deeply uneasy and distressed.

Afiqah walked in on her friend in the act. Shocked and confused, she was left asking why her friend would take such a liberty without first seeking approval.

The friend justified her actions by saying the baby appeared hungry and she only meant to assist. Yet, this unwelcome intervention has now driven a wedge between the two friends.

The ramifications of that moment have continued to strain their relationship.
