Struggling with directions is something many of us can relate to, but one creative student found a unique solution to her left and right confusion.
D’Kodia Laine, a 23-year-old communications student from Australia, decided to tackle her challenge head-on with an innovative approach.
Throughout her life, D’Kodia often found herself the subject of friendly teasing by her peers due to her trouble distinguishing between her left and right.
In an interview, she humorously shared that she was used to making L shapes with her hands as a makeshift solution to figure out directions.
“It became a running joke among my friends when they saw me doing the L shape gesture,” D’Kodia recalled, recalling the silly scene it created.
Fortunately, with her new tattoos, she now enjoys confidence and clarity by just glancing at her hands. Her boyfriend also appreciates the tattoos, as it saves them from potentially awkward or confusing situations when they’re together.
The inspiration for this tattoo solution came during a scavenger hunt party, where D’Kodia, acting as the navigator for her team, led them astray with wrong turns. To assist her in this task, a friend playfully marked ‘L’ and ‘R’ on her hands.
“What began as a light jest turned out to be an incredibly practical solution,” she admitted, thankful for the outcome that let her abandon the finger-made L’s for good.
Her tattoo artist, Lauren Winzer, also delighted in sharing the story and the tattoos with her followers on social media.
“Beyond being charming, tattoos can undeniably serve functional purposes as well! Wishing you all the best in future direction adventures, glad to lend a hand,” Lauren remarked enthusiastically.
