Ukraine’s President Zelensky is expressing deep dissatisfaction as recent peace discussions concerning the ongoing conflict in Ukraine were held without him being privy to them. These meetings have sparked a stern backlash from Zelensky, who accuses former President Trump of misleading both him and the European Union. He went as far as labeling Trump a traitor for allegedly aiding Russia in its conflict with Ukraine.

Adding fuel to the fire, Zelensky insists that it’s past due for Trump to reveal his true intentions, urging the former President to distance himself from what he terms as the Russian disinformation sphere, laden with falsehoods and propaganda. Zelensky’s remarks were made in response to Trump’s provocative statements, where he dismissed Zelensky as a dictatorial figure lacking electoral legitimacy.

Trump also criticized Zelensky regarding his approval ratings, urging for new elections in Ukraine. In a surprising turn, Trump accused Ukraine of being the aggressor in the conflict, while lauding Russia and President Putin for engaging in ‘historic’ peace talks held in Saudi Arabia.
The trust issues between these two nations and their leaders are evident and present significant challenges to reconciliation. As it stands, the diplomatic tension seems to be escalating, making any healing of relations appear distant.
