On a day meant for celebration, a shocking incident unfolded as a tragic plane crash claimed at least 42 lives. A 100-seater passenger aircraft tragically crashed onto the ground, leaving behind a scene of destruction.

The early hours of the day revealed that a flight by Azerbaijan Airlines had been circling the Aktau Airport in Kazakhstan multiple times. This was just before it crash-landed following a collision with a large flock of birds.

Having departed Baku’s airport at 7:55 am on Christmas Day, the flight was bound for Grozny, Russia. On board the aircraft were 67 passengers alongside five crew members.

Eyewitnesses recounted the plane landing inverted, subsequently rolling to its side before it erupted into an intense inferno. Currently, 27 survivors have been identified and quickly transported to a local hospital to receive urgent medical care.
