Brad Pitt Responds After Woman Tricked Into Sending $850,000 For Cancer Treatment

Brad Pitt has addressed the unfortunate situation where a woman was deceived into sending $850,000 to a phony account impersonating him, claiming he needed financial assistance for cancer treatment.

Anne, aged 53, shared her story of being duped by an online fraudster who contacted her via social media, posing as Brad Pitt’s mother.

Just a day later, Anne received another direct message in February 2023, which purportedly stated: “Hello Anne, my mother told me a lot about you. I would like to know more.”

During an interview with French TV station TF1, Anne explained, “I realized it was supposedly Brad Pitt and felt like I was dreaming. Initially, I thought it was a hoax, but it was hard to grasp the reality of it. We began chatting daily, and a friendship seemed to blossom.”

Anne continued, “It’s rare to have a man say such thoughtful things to you. He knew how to engage with women, always impeccably.”

The scammer then claimed to be undergoing ‘cancer treatment’ and, due to his ongoing divorce from Angelina Jolie, purportedly couldn’t afford it. They sent altered AI-generated images of the Fight Club actor in a hospital setting, convincing Anne of their authenticity.

When she requested a phone call, the account frequently cited being ‘too busy’ as an excuse.

After many months of communication, Anne even agreed to marry the person orchestrating the scam—after first divorcing her own husband and obtaining €775,000 ($798,894). The account had promised lavish gifts such as Chanel and Hermès handbags, prompting her to send the full sum. Additionally, she was coerced into paying a supposed customs fee of €9,000 ($9,277).

Anne’s suspicions arose after seeing the actual Brad Pitt publicly with his new girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, leading her to consult investigators to probe her case further.

As reported by BFM TV, Anne is currently in a hospital clinic battling severe depression. It’s unclear whether she has been able to retrieve her money from the scam.

With the story gaining plenty of attention online, the real Brad Pitt responded through a spokesperson, who stated, “It’s devastating that scammers exploit the deep connections that fans feel with their favorite celebrities.”

They added, “This serves as a crucial reminder to be cautious of unsolicited online messages, particularly from entertainers who typically don’t engage on social platforms.”
