Dad Taught Bullies A Lesson After They Called His 7-Year-Old Son A Monster

Jackson Bezzant, a bright and spirited 7-year-old, was quietly enjoying his morning breakfast at school when something deeply unsettling happened. Three older students approached him with harsh words, calling him ‘ugly,’ a ‘monster,’ among other hurtful names.

Thankfully, a teacher saw the incident and quickly intervened, putting a stop to the bullying. But the damage was done, and the experience was enough to move Jackson’s father to tears.

Jackson was born with Treacher Collins Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that affects facial bone development. This greatly impacts the structure of his chin, cheekbones, and ears, and has left him nearly deaf. He has already had surgery to help with his eye socket.

His father, Dan, vividly recalls past encounters with people’s insensitivity. “Once, as we passed by, a woman commented loudly, ‘Did you see that little boy’s face?’”

Upon hearing about the incident at school, Dan poured his heart out on social media, hoping to raise awareness and foster compassion.

“My heart is aching and my spirit feels torn. This journey with my son Jackson has been filled with ignorance and hurtful comments beyond belief,” Dan opened up on his Facebook post.

“He endures name-calling like ‘ugly,’ ‘freak,’ and ‘monster’ almost daily from classmates. He’s so young yet talks of suicidal thoughts, and he’s not even eight years old!

“He believes he has no friends and feels hated. Kids throw rocks at him and push him around with harsh words. Imagine for a moment if this were your child going through such pain.

“Take a moment to explain to your kids about those with special needs. Encourage them to understand the importance of kindness and empathy. Look up Treacher Collins Syndrome if you need to. Jackson has already faced significant surgeries and will have more in the future.

“I could speak volumes about this, but what’s vital is that we educate our children.

“Help spread this message. Such situations shouldn’t occur to anyone.”

Dan’s heartfelt plea touched many, and his post quickly gained traction. It resonated deeply with the community, compelling other students and families to extend their support to Jackson and his family.

“My goal is for parents to grasp the emotion behind my post and understand our heartache,” Dan shared. “It’s crucial to inform your children that bullying is unacceptable.”

Reflect on how you might react in a similar situation and consider discussing these issues with those around you. You never know how one small act of kindness could profoundly affect someone’s life.
