The striking pair who captured the media’s attention due to their significant age difference have announced their separation following two years of marriage.

Iris Jones, an 83-year-old from the UK, made headlines when she shared the news of her relationship with 37-year-old Egyptian Mohamed Ibriham, who is 46 years younger than her.

After connecting on Facebook in 2019, Mohamed and Iris married just over a year later. They often spoke candidly about their vibrant intimate life once Mohamed moved to the UK on a three-year visa granted in 2021.

However, it appears that even the brightest sparks can fade, as their relationship began to falter after cohabiting.

Jones recently spoke out about the breakup to Closer magazine, discussing what led to the parting of ways.

“I adored everything about Mohammed. But it became hard work. We used to have a great sex life but then, rather than making love, we ended up arguing all the time about anything and everything. I can’t be doing with that. I’m not a lovesick teenager. I’m 83,” Iris explained.

She further shared that she now favors the companionship of her pet cat, who, she says, “never complains” and is “beautiful to look at.”

“I got him just a few days after Mohammed moved out and he’s the perfect companion. He never complains, is very quiet and beautiful to look at – I adore him,” Iris remarked.

“And he’s very happy here and doesn’t create a mess, I’m not missing Mohammed at all. The thing that annoyed me the most when he left was he took my tempura battered prawns that I’d planned for my dinner that night.”
