Local media sources have reported on disturbing videos circulating on social media, which reveal busy hospital units filled with patients wearing face masks. The scenes are causing alarm and concern among many viewers.

Parents appear deeply worried as they hold their sick children tightly while waiting in lengthy lines at pediatric units. The situation inside these hospitals is both stressful and chaotic for families.

In addition to overwhelmed hospitals, some unverified reports have suggested that crematoriums and funeral homes are also experiencing a surge, raising further concerns about the impact of this virus.

The lack of official statements from the government and the distressing images from hospitals have led to fear and speculation, with some people recalling the initial COVID-19 outbreak that started in China.

Reports from local news agencies have mentioned a virus known as HMPV or Human Metapneumovirus, which typically causes mild cold-like symptoms. However, no official confirmation has been made regarding its connection to the current outbreak.

This situation brings to mind the winter of 2022 and 2023, when a wave of mycoplasma pneumonia cases — a condition known colloquially as “white lung” — swept through the country. Although typically mild, it placed considerable strain on the healthcare system.
