The Supreme Court has determined that Donald Trump will face sentencing in the well-publicized hush-money case, reinforcing the principle that ‘No one is above the law.’
In a recent decision, the court denied Trump’s application for a stay of the proceedings related to his criminal sentencing associated with the hush-money incident.

The Supreme Court highlighted the obligations this sentencing places on Trump’s role as the incoming President-elect. Their position is based on the trial court’s intention to impose a sentence during a brief virtual hearing.
The court’s decision saw a close 5-4 vote, with justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh among those in dissent, seeking to halt the sentencing.

According to Trump, the timing of the sentencing seemed counterproductive as it coincided closely with his inauguration day, possibly hampering his presidential transition, as noted by the New York Times.

Donald Trump is scheduled to appear before New York Judge Juan M. Merchan for his sentencing on January 20 at 9:30 am local time. Despite multiple efforts by his legal team to have the case dismissed, the court has remained steadfast.
