The poignant final image of a sweet young South Korean boy peering out of an airplane window has touched the hearts of many worldwide.
This little boy, full of life, was unknowingly on the brink of a tragic fate. The plane, just about to land at Muan International Airport, met with disaster, leading to an accident that claimed the lives of 179 passengers.
This young child, only three years of age, was the youngest to lose his life in this dreadful event. He was returning from a joyous holiday trip, accompanied by his loving parents.
The Jeju Airlines flight met its unfortunate fate when it veered off its path at Muan Airport. The plane was unable to stop and collided with a substantial concrete barrier, after which it ignited into flames.
This tragic incident unfolded one Sunday when the landing gear did not deploy as intended. Sadly, out of the 181 souls on board, only two of the aircraft’s cabin crew survived, a man and a woman, who were miraculously pulled from the debris.
Among the victims, five were tender souls under the age of 10. Many of those onboard were holiday-goers from South Korea, set on returning to the comfort of their homes.
Current investigations are earnestly underway to uncover the root of this catastrophe. There is evidence pointing towards a bird strike leading to the failure of the landing gear. The query also remains as to why the pilot proceeded to approach landing at full speed in the center of the runway, ultimately resulting in the catastrophic contact with the airport’s outer concrete barrier.
