Prince Harry has stirred up quite a conversation following the release of his revealing memoir, “Spare.” In it, he offers some surprising insights into his life.
The Duke of Sussex candidly discusses the long-standing competition with his brother William, explaining that their rivalry didn’t suddenly arise; it’s something that’s been rooted in their lives for years, now shared with the public.

Harry provides examples of sibling conflicts dating back to their childhood, recounting numerous quarrels and how these issues have persisted from their early years together.
In one passage, Harry delves into a specific childhood memory regarding the disparity between his bedroom and William’s at Balmoral Castle.

Despite there being about 50 bedrooms available, Harry explains that due to William being older, he had priority and consequently enjoyed a more luxurious space.
William’s room featured amenities such as a larger area, a double bed, and a well-appointed basin. It also boasted a closet with mirrored doors and a beautiful window view overlooking the courtyard complete with a fountain.

Harry describes his part as considerably smaller and lacking the splendor of William’s quarters. He recalls never questioning this inequality, understanding that it was simply because William was the eldest.
Harry touches on the dynamics of royal hierarchy, recalling how William, being two years senior, was always seen as the “heir,” while he was referred to as the “spare.”
