A very humbled Vladimir Putin was recently seen extending an apology to the international community following a major blunder by his country’s Air Defense team. The unfortunate incident involved the tragic crash of a passenger plane on Christmas Day, leaving 38 people dead.
The Russian President acknowledged that the aircraft was mistakenly targeted, emphasizing that it was a glaring error in judgment by Russian forces. The sorrowful event ended in a devastating explosion and a crash landing, resulting in the loss of many innocent lives.
In an attempt to express his nation’s remorse, Putin reached out to the president of Azerbaijan, offering condolences to all those affected by the unfortunate occurrence. He extended a heartfelt apology for the premature action taken by air defenses, which mistargeted the aircraft resulting in the untimely deaths.
Though Putin’s apology follows a rare and regrettable mistake, the global community’s reaction was one of dismay and concern, mainly because this wasn’t the first incident of its kind. Another heartbreaking episode involved a Malaysian aircraft, incorrectly identified and tragically shot down, causing yet another senseless loss of innocent lives.
The most recent incident occurred in Kazakhstan where the ill-fated passenger plane tried to land in Aktau. Unfortunately, it was mistakenly targeted by missiles over Grozny. The original flight plan aimed at landing in Grozny, but the plane couldn’t get clearance as Russian air defense systems disrupted its navigation.
