Meet Lily Lu, a remarkable transgender woman who embraces a lifestyle that is anything but ordinary. Despite being often judged for her bold body art and modifications, Lily proudly identifies herself as a “caring and loving dad” to her teenage daughter. She believes that her unique appearance doesn’t define her ability to be a great parent.
Lily hails from Tengen, Germany, and is known for her head-to-toe tattoos, piercings, and extensive body modifications. She has turned her body into a canvas of art, catching the eyes—and often shock—of those she encounters.
As an independent filmmaker, Lily shares, “100% of my body is covered in ink. It’s a part of who I am, and it’s a personal collection that sometimes grows or changes. My looks are a reflection of my lifestyle and my journey.”
Her transformations include removing her nipples and belly button, altering parts of her ears, and even having a finger removed. Her tongue, the whites of her eyes, and even beneath her fingernails have been tattooed. She’s also modified her tongue to be forked and fitted her mouth with colored ceramic veneers.
In addition to these changes, Lily is undergoing a gender transition from male to female, which she describes as another “crazy and big modification process.” She expresses her intent to fully embrace and enjoy life in her own unique way.
With nearly 100,000 followers on Instagram, Lily shares, “Being weird is a superpower.” Her audience spans platforms like Facebook and TikTok, where she has gathered over 1.6 million likes from fans intrigued by her distinctive appearance.
Lily notes, “Many people assume my looks mean I use drugs or won’t be able to secure a job or a place to live. It’s just not true.” Despite these misconceptions, Lily has successfully built a life where she owns multiple properties and lives what she describes as a “super healthy” lifestyle.
“I haven’t drunk alcohol, smoked, or used drugs for 20 years. I maintain a healthy diet, exercise daily, and participate in ultra trail races,” Lily explains. She’s also cutting down on sugar and coffee, aiming to keep her lifestyle as healthy as possible.
A Devoted Parent
As a parent to 14-year-old Maya, Lily is proud to see her daughter following her creative footsteps. Maya started exploring tattooing from a young age, and at two years old, she inked her first tattoo on Lily’s foot. At nine, she began tattooing at her father’s studio, Psyland 25.
“To Maya, tattooing is as normal as drawing on paper,” Lily remarks proudly. “I encourage her to pursue her passions and dreams.” Lily emphasizes the strong bond they share, asserting that she is a “very caring and loving dad.” Many who know her testify to how high a priority her daughter is in her life.
Lily’s story often sparks curiosity and sometimes skepticism, particularly regarding her impact as a parent. Comments from social media users reflect a mix of fascination and bewilderment.
