Donald Trump Faces Backlash for Remarks to Female Journalist

Donald Trump has stirred controversy once again with his response to a question asked by a female journalist. His history of making crude comments about women, especially those in political or media spheres who question him, is extensive.
Trump’s past behavior includes the infamous 2016 recording where he spoke about women in a derogatory manner, claiming he could do whatever he wanted.
His list of offensive remarks includes comments about Miss Universe contestants, Vice President Kamala Harris, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Rosie O’Donnell, contestants from “The Apprentice,” and even members of his own family.

Recently, Trump used what some describe as outdated tactics by addressing a journalist dismissively during a White House inquiry.
The reporter asked, “What role do you see for the United States as China defends its presence in Latin America?”
In response, Trump turned to Vice President JD Vance, saying, “I just like to watch her talk,” and then addressed the journalist with, “Good job. Thank you darling.”
Public Reaction and Criticism
Such remarks have been criticized as patronizing and misogynistic. Many on social media expressed disapproval, noting how these comments belittle professional journalism.
One Twitter user highlighted that it’s not just dismissive but a way to control the narrative, damaging the professional legitimacy of female journalists and enforcing gender power dynamics.
Another suggested that the press should leave the room collectively when faced with this kind of response.
This isn’t the first time Trump’s comments on journalists have sparked outrage.
In 2017, during a call with then-Irish leader Leo Varadkar, Trump called over RTE presenter Caitriona Perry, commenting on her appearance.

Recently, he also commented on White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s appearance, making jokes about her expressions.
After a recent peace deal signing, Trump made additional remarks about Leavitt, observing: “That face… and those lips. They move like a machine gun, right?”
Earlier in the year, he made similar comments about her during a different event.
On the other hand, Trump has targeted others outside his immediate circles with similar jabs.
For instance, he ridiculed Arianna Huffington’s divorce, criticizing her both personally and professionally.
Likewise, he took indirect shots at Bill Clinton’s personal life on Twitter, and accused both Clinton and Harris of leveraging their careers on personal relationships rather than merit.
