Prince Harry Moans his Childhood Bedroom Inside Castle was ‘Less Luxurious’ than Brother William’s

Prince Harry has been in the spotlight recently after unveiling his memoir titled Spare, which contains some intriguing revelations about his past.

Among the many topics, Harry sheds light on his relationship with his brother, Prince William. This sibling rivalry, he reveals, has been part of their lives since childhood, and now the world is hearing his side of the story.

In his book, Harry recounts numerous tales of their brotherly spats, some even turning physical, dating back to when they were both much younger. A specific story that stands out is about their bedrooms in Balmoral Castle, which was less about comfort for Harry.

Harry dives into how, among the castle’s 50 bedrooms, William had the privilege of choosing the more luxurious quarters, owing to his place as the elder son. This choice gave William access to half of the house and its opulent accommodations.

The luxuries included a larger sleeping area with a double bed and a generously-sized basin. Additionally, there was a wardrobe with mirrored doors and a picturesque window offering a view of the courtyard with a stunning fountain.

Reflecting on his own space, Harry explains, “My half was significantly smaller and less luxe. I never questioned why, though I understood it was because William was William, and I was Harry.”

Harry goes on to highlight that William, being two years older, was perceived as the heir to the family’s legacy, whereas he himself was considered the ‘Spare’.

These early experiences and observations from Harry’s youth provide a glimpse into the dynamics of the royal family and how roles and perceptions can shape personal narratives.
